Hardware
Tangible parts computer are called hardware. These are physical computers of the computer.
Types of Hardware:
Input Unit
The devices used to provide data, instruction & control signal to computer are collectively called as input. Key board, pointing devices, scanning devices etc are examples
Output Unit
The devices used to receive the results of data processing carried out by a computer from electronically generated information into human-readable form.
System Unit
Electronic devices in a box is called system unit. It includes mother board, processor (CPU), memory module, cards, ports, and connectors.
Mother Board
It is called main board or system board. It is the most important components of the computer system. Every components of the system unit connects directly to mother board.
Microprocessor
It is also known as CPU or processor. It simply is the brain of computer. It carries out the instruction of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output (I/O) operations.
RAM
It is also called random access memory. It is the type of main or primary memory. It is a temporary storage area to hold the data and instruction that the Central Processing Unit (CPU) needs. Each program is loaded into memory to run. This allows the CPU direct access to program. This is of volatile nature. DRAM, SRAM & MRAM are its types.
ROM
ROM stands for read only memory. It is a non volatile memory because ROM retains its contents even when the computer is turned off. Instructions on a ROM can neither be deleted nor changed. It prepares a computer for use by telling how to access hard disk, find and load operating system. Rom has three types named as PROM, EROM, EEPROM. It is also called BIOS
